heARTist Statement
Every exploration of the heART reveals something new to me. In the most personal pieces, there are three core experiences:
- the aesthetically pleasing, but ultimately illusionary comfort, is the deepest background layer
- the foreground layer is a bold illustration, a statement screaming of self, illusion of individuality
- those two are pulled together, filtered, ultimately changed by the middle ground which hosts the dissonance of death, the acceptance of mortality
My heART is home to both grief & creativity, both life & death, a radical acceptance of mortality *and* risking to love anyway.
What is No-Bullshit heART Coaching?
heART Coaching is a no-bullshit tending of your heart and life through an everyday, creative practice supported by regular, meaningful exchanges with a coach. Coach Kara works with a broad definition of creativity so that our work together is *not* just about art-making, but instead customized to fit your unique needs and desires. After all, it takes a lot of creativity to figure out why you should get out of bed the day after your child had died! This is heart-making, not art-making.

What happens in Group Coaching?
- Group Coaching happens once a week for four weeks each session.
- Participants call in either to a conference call line or via Skype. It's your choice.
- We have one hour together as a group each week.
- Coach Kara usually starts group by offering a mindful meditation, a gentle breathing exercise, just to get us all present and to release any stresses we may have had prior to arriving.
- We start each session with a topic introduction, but if that doesn't appeal or address issues participants have that week, then we move on to what is at hand.
- All participants have the opportunity to speak up, ask questions, present issues, or just listen in.
- If you have a very pressing issue you'd like considered first up on a call, please contact Coach Kara 48 hours prior to the call with your topic.
- You need only share your first name or user name on blog or forum. Nothing is recorded. What happens in session stays in session!
